We were wearing sportshorts and were partydressed, unlike most other people I have to say. Most of the people were students I guess - mostly straight. But still, I would go back for the venue and very minimal techno. Don't expect lyrics and happy sounds though.
Also tried to enter in the berghain recently and was turned away. We were a big group of nine people,so we went in two groups. The first group was white with only one German who communicated and they entered. We were directly behind them and our group consisted of black/Latin/Asian the door man allowed us to enter we were being checked and then after we arrived to the cashier and had paid they bouncer asked us to leave. Even though we were a multiple ethnic group one is actually German.
Anyway not really sure how to title the experience because my friends have been inside on previous occasions but they have to go with someone that is bestfriend a with the bouncer. I would love to enter once but I agree this type of treatment is not humane.
I have seen places that don't allow you in because you might appear to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol upon entry or super posh places with a dresscode but it was just all strange.
The hype is big about this place so I guess it is leaving all of us big time party goers hanging on edge.
Maybe i will try again later in the future

La selezione all'ingresso viene praticata secondo un criterio non ben chiaro ma è molto rigida: più o meno due terzi delle persone presenti in fila vengono rifiutate (e senza appello). Io sono entrato vestito con felpa, jeans, scarpe da ginnastica e giubbatto in pelle, ma un altro ragazzo di fronte a me vestito più o meno allo stesso modo è stato cacciato. L'interno è grandioso, una vecchia architettura industriale adattata a tecno dance club. Musica stupenda, gente di tutti i tipi, libera di fare quello che vuole: capita piuttosto spesso di vedere persone che fanno sesso non solo in angoli bui ma anche in pista. Il locale ha clientela mista etero e gay. Vale davvero la pena!
I found it very easy to get here and it's my first time to Berlin. The closest station is Ostbahnhof via S-Bahn.
I got in without any issues - im a young asian boy, dressed casually, and went alone. The security check is thorough and the cute/friendly security guy went through all my pockets and wallet. It's nice to have some reassurance that they take security seriously. I had to check my camera in at the first counter, then my bag in to a separate large open cloakroom with a super nice girl.
However i was a bit disappointed only one small level was open and it was playing electropop which i soon discovered is not something i like. The dance area is actually not very big and the bar is actually bigger lol. It ended up being quite crowded but still reasonably easy to get around to the second bar and large number of unisex toilets. The bar staff were friendly and drinks are OK priced. The sound system and lighting are nowhere as great as ARQ in Sydney, when i had heard so much hype about the venue and no photo policy :(
There are these "cabins" next to the dance floor which i assume are for sex/chatting, accessibly via a small corridor. No dark room was available when i went.
BTW i also tried going on Mon to a special event they had, and they had a nice woman go around warning us that there was only a small chance we would get in - and despite not speaking German i understood this from her body language.
3days ago 9september 2012 To get to Berghain... not very easy to find.. you can use the underground the green line to Warshauwerst U1 and just take a taxi for 5-to 6euro max. all the taxis know the place and to get back loads of taxi waiting by the club.
I read all the reviews but i went there to check it out for my own experience.. so the review is correct.but again there will be some dicks will tell you it is the greatest place in the world

if you go there and you are refused entry it is the our own mistake because we encouraged it by giving that night club such a great importance when it does not deserve it. 3 of us were in the queue on saturday night chatting to each other and waiting for club to open, they do not give monkeys about how long you wait outside while the most horrid looking bouncers just stand at the gazing at the crowd and start to make a judgment To go in of Not To go in although their door fee is 12 Euros.every one infront of us were asked to leave and as access to the entrance to the club was denied.
As we approached these extra terrestial aliens they asked how many and they say the same applied to you meaning we are not going to get in we suffer the same fate as those were ahead of us.
To be very honest this is a mix club with a whole bunch of teenagers and their girl friends the crowd queuing outside was full of young boys and girls so we are early and mid thirties definitely this is not a place for you to be it is a disappointment while the advertisement sound like a macho male gay club where it is only for young pussy cats to get in.
we stayed in the queue on the off chance of getting inside to see what exactly happens inside, there were may me one gayguy for each 20 to thirty straight couples .... is that the place for macho gay guys if you looking for real gay guys this is definitely not the place you gay guys. This reminds me of magalouf where all the teenager go for their first experience.
Gay guys beware do not be fooled it is high time i put a very honest opinion about Bergain .. this is really misleading ... if you are above 30 years and gay you are most likely to be refused entry, they want the hetro couples teenagers only.
I saw a gay guy quite muscular trying to get in at the door, the bouncer looked at him and the poor guy was very nervous and almost shaking just to given the go ahead... it is an insult they dont give a damn shit ... if they do not like you.. then don't even bother to argue.
so guys this is a very honest review... if you want those arsehole to learn a lesson then dont go there like this they will lose business. they know about how people are advertising this club.. there is nothing great about it, it is just the hetro/metro gay do not have a place to go on a sat night.... who wants to be in there?
Lab oratory is ok but again that is your choice the warned their guest what sort of activities they indulge and sex play inside... so if you are easy and wants your dreams to come true then that the place..but for us it was not the place.... they do not allow pretty boys clean shaven perfume in.. you must be dirty looking rough ruggered.
I came today to the panorama with a friend, we were dressed normaly and stand 1 hour waiting to enter. When we got to the door, the dorman asked me how many we are , I sais 2 and he sled me the way out and not get inside the club. I am an israeli blogger that my favorite blog writing is on Berlin scene, I will now write in my blog post that say to all , do not go to the panorama club cause of the selection, I will recommend not to go and I will start writin in all gays sites world wild not to go. Yo can come be normal and go sad cause of the selection in panorama club - I recommend DO NOT GO. !!!!!!!!!!
The whole door policy is just a marketing strategy to make it special. The place is interesting ( old factory) and music is ok... but it is far to be the best club in the world... To be honest it was a disappointment. I've waited more than half an hour in a queue and saw many people not being allowed to enter. Luckily I had no problem but can garantee to those to the other ones: It is just a waste for your time to wait so long in a queue... Nothing special at all about this club except for a buch of Junkie/ high people on the dance floor :-)

Last night we were at Berghain and it was very good. Make sure you come on time if you don't want to spend the night in a cue. As you can read in the reviews it's not sure that you get in, the doorpolicy is quite a mistery. As far as i can tell big groups and coloured people don't get in. The club is mixed, gays are a minority here, but that shouldn't bother you. There's a relaxed and openminded atmosphere. They search you for drugs once you get in, but inside you can get and use drugs quite easily. Lots of people are drugged in here. Even though there are a lot of remarks to make this club is well worth a visit.
I am a tourist who is in Berlin, I saw that many people are not let into the club, I was surprised muchissimo front of my fine had 5 Best and women have been told they could not enter, this also happened with many more people, security discotace people look up and down in the form of jokes and then they decide who enters and who does not fit, it has me feeling really bad echo in my case I've been in this club 2 times I've always been able to enter.
I do not understand why this happens then people make a big row and then you say they can not enter.
Soy un turista que esta en berlin,he visto que hay muchas personas que no las dejan entrar en la discoteca ,me ha sorprendido muchissimo ,delante de mi habian 5 mujeres muy bien bestidas y le han dicho que no podian entrar ,esto tambien sucedio con muchas mas personas ,la seguridad de la discotace mira las personas de arriba abajo en forma de burlas y despues ellos mismos deciden quien entra y quien no entra ,esto me ha echo sentir muy mal ,en mi caso he estado en esta discoteca 2 veces y siempre he podido entrar.
no comprendo porque esto sucede despues que las personas hacen una gran fila y despues le dicen que no pueden entrar .

On our way to Laboratory we were asked by two Japanese girls for directions to Berghain...there seemed to be a lot of tourists in the queue.
Is the information about Berghain / Panorama Bar here correct?
